Program Overview

Finance Management is a discipline dealing with the planning, organization, control and direction of the finances of an organization. It involves estimation of the capital requirements of that organization, choice of sources of funds, investment of funds, cash management, utilization of surplus funds and overall finance control. Sound financial practices and financial decision making are vital for the success of corporations, investment firms, and financial institutions. This specialization explores relevant financial analysis of financial and non-financial organizations. You will acquire a broad collection of skills that fit within financial positions in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, such as financial statement analysis, investment selection techniques and how financial institutions generate earnings and manage risks. You will also complete a final written research project demonstrating the ability to conduct an investigation on a workplace problem, identify an area for intervention and recommend a plan of preventative action.

Main Objectives

To develop knowledge on the type and characteristics of problems and the possibility of the occurrence of financial management problems, and to increase the ability to handle the problems through reliable approach and problem solving strategy development.

Expected learning outcomes

MBA FM program could provide the opportunity to learn managerial practices and processes in banking, investments, insurance and financial reporting. Required courses could address finance theories, banking services and regulations, portfolio management, risk management and fiscal decision-making processes. Options, securities, futures, assets and financial markets could also be covered. An extensive research project demonstrating the student's competency in concepts and principles studied throughout the program will be required in the capstone course.

18 months.
