This course attempts to familiarize Participants with the shortcoming of one sided development initiatives that focus only on men or women to gender in Project Management that ensures equality in development projects and policies. The focus of the courses is on analyzing the extent of gender sensitivity of development interventions, conduct gender analysis, critically analyze gender differentials in selected development Projects, identify research designs and methodologies, discuss positive affirmative action in development planning and practice to promote gender equity and equality. It also provides students with in-depth knowledge of various project management techniques and theories.
There will be internship, field placement and research project writing that are important for the program with the objective to expose students with the fundamentals as well as the core strategic tools in handling issues related to gender and project management. The overall goal of the BSc. program is to empower students with little or no background in sustainable development issues with gender knowledge and analytical tools to effectively mainstream gender in development policies, projects and programs.

This program targets qualified candidates with Advanced Level certificate, Higher National Diploma or Higher Technical Diploma in Development Studies, and other relevant qualifications in development. The course is also designed for project planners and management staff trainers, development workers, community development workers, extension staff and development practitioners who are involved in planning and managing projects in both government and private sectors.
Duration of the Course
The BSc. program is designed to cover a period of three academic (3) years of six semesters. However, candidates with a Higher National Diploma/Higher Technical Diploma in Development Studies in specific specialized areas will be admitted into the second year of the BSc. program for them to complete in two academic years.
A bachelor degree in gender and project management will cover a wide range of topics related to this field. During the first phase of the program, students will acquire fundamental knowledge about gender and Project management concepts. Later in the program, more advanced courses in the program will be covered such as project management, managerial finance, project completion techniques, and budget management. Students then choose from a range of options with strong relevance for their specialization.
Internship and field placement are part of the curriculum. PAID-WA’s major objective is to expose students to the fundamental concepts as well as the core strategic tools in handling issues related to the practice of public and private development administration. The course culminates in writing a Research Project in any area selected by the student and mutually agreed upon by the Supervisory Under-Graduate Committee.

At the end of the course, graduates and certificate holders should have among other skills gained knowledge of how to:
- Mainstream gender in the socio economic and political development processes as they manage and handle development issues efficiently.
- Determine and plan projects and program through innovative and entrepreneurship skills.

- Good intellectual capacity for analytical processes. Employment Opportunities Graduates may gain employment in various sectors such as private, parastatal and government institutions. Other opportunities are also available in international organizations and NGOs, LSOs, CIGs, financial institutions, oil companies, embassies, and outsourcing agencies, among others.
